The Tevorang people split bamboo into thin slivers that are then woven into a cone-shaped fish trap. Here, this tool has been transformed into the body of a whale, reminiscent of the sandbanks of the Taikang Inner Sea. It represents the welcoming of the Age of Discovery, and the Hans people that traversed the Taiwan Strait. The bamboo fish traps were also used in ritualistic ceremonies to honor their Tevorang ancestors. A large ritualistic bamboo fish trap has been fashioned into the tail of the whale, reaching towards the sky. At night, it lights up and connects the Taivoan people living off the land with the spirits of the Tevorang ancestors during the festivals.
