“The Origami Flower” is a traditional Chinese object d’art of paper and a beloved toy among children. Some call it the “Fān Huā” or “Magic Flower,” characterised by intricate folds and rotating effects. The artist attempts to renew this traditional craft, seeks new possibilities, and imparts a new interpretation to the contemporary time. The artist plays favourites in the honeycomb texture, created by multiple processes of sticking and cutting, enhancing the visual texture with light, infused with the logical orders and aesthetics appearing to the natural honeycombs. The artwork adopts the telescopic device as its scaffold, covering the land ten meters in diameter, in terms of extensible design to construct the texture of the origami flower and a circular spatial field. The artwork looks as if a luminous umbrella is unfolded in the dark. Accompanied by the reconstruction of Modern technology and machinery, it creates a fresh look of multifaced visual perception, presented in volume until it turns into the “Dream Rondo” of the contemporary.
